Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) Korean glutinous rice flour
- 1/2 cup (120ml) warm water
- 1/2 tsp (3g) fine sea salt
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the rice flour and salt.
- Slowly incorporate the warm water, stirring with a spoon until the dough forms a soft, tacky ball.
- Line a steamer basket with parchment paper or a damp cloth to prevent sticking.
- Place the dough in the center and flatten it into a disc about 1 inch (2.5cm) thick.
- Steam over boiling water for 15–20 minutes until the cake looks translucent and glossy, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Transfer the hot dough to a clean surface dusted with a small amount of rice flour.
- While the dough is still hot, knead it vigorously for 3–5 minutes using the heel of your hand until it transforms into a smooth, elastic mass.
- Roll the dough into long cylinders (Garaetteok style).
